Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as the UK’s leading organisation for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and critical infrastructure. We recruit skilled professionals to our team.
Our role in protecting national security is unique, involving 24/7 armed response, patrolling nuclear sites, facilities, materials, and local communities, and working with local police forces. We are also part of the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed across the country in response to terrorist attacks.
Joining CNC includes a comprehensive 19-week firearms training programme, preparing officers as highly trained firearms professionals. If already AFO/ARV trained, a condensed 4-week programme is provided.
We offer at least one local training course annually in Caithness, with the first week held in Oxfordshire, to accommodate local candidates.
After 6 months probation, officers can apply for specialist roles like Dog Handler, Special Branch, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer.
Applicants must have a full manual driving licence and have passed their probation with their current or previous force. Transferees usually retain their salary and entitlements, including annual leave starting at 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing with service length.
