Overview

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organisation for protective policing for the civil nuclear industry and other critical national infrastructure. CNC officers provide 24/7 armed response, patrol and protect nuclear sites, facilities and materials, and work with local Home Office Police Forces. We also contribute to national operations such as the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and Operation Temperer deployments.

Upon joining the CNC you’ll be enrolled onto our world-class 19-week comprehensive Authorised Firearms training programme. If you are currently AFO/ARV trained, you will undertake a condensed 4-week training programme. Local training options are available with at least one local course each year in Caithness (first week in Oxfordshire). The CNC will discuss your training delivery preferences and note them in your application.

  • Pass probation with current or previous force when transferring.
  • Salary and annual leave entitlements for transferees are typically honoured from the last force; start on the same pay and entitlements.
