Overview
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Based at Sellafield Operational Policing Unit, hours are based on an average of 37 hours per week utilising a 24/7 rotating 12-hour shift pattern. Salary up to £26,048 per annum plus up to a 20% shift allowance (after training) and a generous benefits package. As a Communications Operator and Dispatcher, you’ll be the first point of contact to on-site emergency services and members of the public requiring assistance.
You will gather relevant information to enable emergency services to fulfil their roles, manage critical incidents and liaise with members of the public in and around the local area. You’ll ensure all requests receive an appropriate response or resolution, record important information, follow organisational procedures, and keep information well managed, secure and comprehensive. This is a demanding role requiring listening, questioning, option assessment, quick and sensitive responses, and collaboration with colleagues who have extensive knowledge of police regulations and high integrity. Training will be provided to help you meet the high standards required for this role.
Note: The post holder will be required to work regular 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 pattern including nights and weekends, and you will need to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) level clearance. Commencement is subject to a medical assessment. The CNC values and Code of Ethics apply to all police staff and set out the standards of behaviour expected.
