The Role

As a manager in the Business Change team, you will work collaboratively with business areas to ensure colleagues are fully prepared to receive change. Working with your project sponsor and wider project team, you’ll play a pivotal role in engaging colleagues at all levels, building capability and capacity to receive transformational change by ensuring colleagues are ready, willing and able to accept new ways of working. Using a structured change management approach, you will produce business change plans to deliver outcomes that cover People, Process and Technology, as well as the projects encouraged benefits, whilst also acting to minimise resistance and improve engagement. This role is specifically for Business Change Managers, not Business Analysts. In summary, the Business Change Manager will support the business through Portfolio Delivery Business Change methodology end to end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the people‑side of change on key Portfolio projects
  • Lead change impact analysis for people, processes, and systems
  • Create business change strategy and supporting plans, ensuring activities are owned and fully resourced
  • Ensure the integration of business change activities into the overall project plans and work with the Project Manager to keep these activities on track
  • Identify people‑side risks and anticipated points of resistance, developing specific interventions, plans to mitigate, or address concerns
  • Assist SME and project teams in co‑coordinating, scheduling, and messaging training requirements internally and externally, including developing materials and tools
  • Provide practical help to users with new systems before, during, and after the 'go‑live' of system replacements
  • Complete business readiness assessment at key points within the project life cycle and conduct readiness assessments to prepare affected business areas for the transition to new ways of working
  • Lead project transition into BAU ensuring all changes are embedded
  • Collate feedback from colleagues who have been part of the change to gauge success of the interventions
  • Lead and contribute creative and innovative ideas for the development and growth of the Business Change team
  • Provide line and task management duties to Business Change Analysts

About You

Experienced in leading end‑to‑end cross‑business transformation/change, and a natural leader with gravitas and an ability to influence senior partners. Delivery focused with a positive attitude who can adapt approaches to ensure projects deliver; supports, develops, challenges, and works positively with a wide range of individuals at all levels in support of the Portfolio. Experience dealing with a wide range of stakeholders including Executive Committee/Board, all departmental managers, industry suppliers and government departments. Strong enough to stand ground on key decisions and willing and able to positively challenge partners at all levels. Operates with urgency and pace without neglecting quality; supporting, developing, and challenging are key components of this role. Good knowledge and understanding of (or keen to learn about) CAA’s industry and business environment. Operates to the CAA Values and Behaviours framework and is an action‑oriented self‑starter who works on their own initiative and takes ownership of personal performance. Passion for business change and eagerness to work with a team that shares this drive and energy.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies, and applying these to project delivery
  • Ability to lead and coach others in effective change management
  • Experience leading workshops with numerous internal and external partners
  • Change management qualification preferred (APMG / Prosci ADKAR®)

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. Post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance. BPSS To be vetted you must have the right to work in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.

Relocation & Property The CAA will relocate from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years' time. The move will be within a 15‑mile radius of Aviation House to minimise disruption for colleagues and customers.
