This role is central to ensuring Civica's financial integrity and the accuracy of the information that drives strategic decisions across the business. You'll lead a high performing team, strengthen our financial control environment, and shape the quality of insights that support our growth. It's a chance to influence the financial backbone of a fast scaling GovTech organisation.

What you will do to be successful in this role:

  • Lead and oversee the period end close, ensuring delivery in line with group timetables, accounting standards and control requirements.
  • Provide direction, review and challenge on journals, accruals, deferrals and reclassifications, ensuring strong evidence and audit trails.
  • Take accountability for the accuracy and completeness of revenue, cost and profitability reporting across assigned business areas.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through high quality reconciliations and timely issue resolution.
  • Review and challenge variance analysis to ensure financial movements are clearly understood and communicated.
  • Ensure consistent, high quality management accounting outputs that support the wider Finance function.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex accounting, close or data related issues, applying sound judgement and coordinating resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement across management accounting processes, controls and ways of working.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Management Accountants, building capability and resilience within Controllership.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of management accounting, period end close and balance sheet control frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading or overseeing management accounting delivery, or similar, in a controlled environment.
  • Ability to apply and challenge accounting judgement, particularly in complex or nonstandard scenarios.
  • Excellent understanding of controls, audit requirements and financial governance.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and challenge financial movements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
