Join Civica’s User Experience team and play a key role in shaping products that make a real difference. As a Senior Accessibility Expert, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to embed accessibility into every stage of the development lifecycle. Your expertise will ensure our design system and digital products are inclusive, compliant, and user-friendly.
In this role, as a subject matter expert, you’ll champion best practices, advise designers, developers, and product managers, and lead initiatives that promote accessibility across Civica. From running audits and writing accessibility statements to delivering training and guiding teams toward compliance, you’ll play a pivotal part in creating exceptional experiences for all users. You’ll have the opportunity to influence a wide range of products serving the public sector - from large platform builds to web applications and mobile apps - while collaborating in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What you will do to be successful in this role as Senior Accessibility Specialist:
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits for public sector software and digital services.
- Write legally compliant and detailed accessibility assessment reports with actionable recommendations.
- Advise product managers, designers, and developers on WCAG, ARIA, and inclusive design best practices.
- Use assistive technologies (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and tools (axe, WAVE) for compliance checks.
- Deliver training and guidance to teams on accessibility standards.
- Collaborate in agile environments to ensure accessibility is integrated into the product lifecycle.
- Produce clear reports and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Champion accessibility across Civica, running the Accessibility Working group, engaging with customers, starting up and running an accessibility user group.
- Advise on the accessibility of Civica’s Design system, Firefly.
- Help business plan for changes in accessibility requirements and compliance.
