The Employee Relations Specialist is a key member of the People Operations team, you will be a subject matter expert for Employee Relations (ER). With a deep understanding of local employment legislation and company policy. In this role you will play a critical role in fostering a fair, compliant, and high performing workplace.
What you will do to be successful in this role:
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage complex/high risk ER cases from initiation through to resolution, ensuring timely, fair, and legally sound outcomes
- Coach and support ER staff through ER cases and policy development
- Apply sound judgment to resolve ER issues early, before formal case escalation where appropriate
- Oversee day-to-day union relations (where applicable), partnering with People Ops leadership on policy and negotiation matters
- Lead and conduct internal investigations with discretion and professionalism
- Monitor ER case volumes and trends by type to identify patterns and inform proactive interventions
- Lead and drive proactive review of policies in response to legislative changes or evolving business needs
- Partner with line managers to build ER capability through coaching and targeted upskilling opportunities
- Demonstrated experience managing a wide range of Employee Relations (ER) cases first-hand, with a fair and consistent approach
- Proven track record of delivering change programmes, ideally involving restructuring or redundancy, with empathy and strategic foresight
- Experience working in high volume environments, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload effectively
- Strong awareness of evolving people strategies, employment law, and market trends, including competitor activity and industry developments
- Ability to work at pace while maintaining attention to detail, professionalism, and care in every interaction
