The ESG & Conscience Coordinator supports Civic's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives by collecting and reporting ESG data, coordinating employee engagement, and maintaining relationships with external organisations. This part-time position is central to ensuring compliance with ESG requirements and promoting our Conscience both internally and externally over a 3-day week.
Key Elements Of The Job
- Develop and maintain our Social Value Strategy and annual action plans aligned to business plans, ESG goals (Civic’s Conscience), Net Zero commitments, and IMS requirements (ISO 9001/14001/45001).
- Collect and validate data for annual ESG (Civic’s Conscience) reporting and audits.
- Help develop policies to enhance ESG (Civic’s Conscience) reporting practices and monitor emerging trends.
- Coordinate environmental and social activities, such as biodiversity projects and diversity initiatives.
- Organise and support meetings for Conscience Lab and prepare relevant materials.
- Work with communications team on internal and external ESG (Civic’s Conscience) communications.
- Attend industry events and build professional networks.
- Manage external partnerships to deliver ESG programmes.
- Quantify sustainability metrics and collaborate with relevant teams for accurate reporting.
- Translate project commitments into actionable plans and support social value statements for bids.
- Provide data to evidence project commitments have been delivered.
- Appoint and work with individual studio social value champions to develop work placement programmes, coordinate group volunteering schemes and establish partnerships with local bodies.
- Maintain records, dashboards, and trackers in line with guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and verify social value activities.
- Promote best practice and contribute to continuous improvements in social value.

- Solid understanding of ESG principles, reporting frameworks, and UK legislation.
- Strong data analysis, visualisation, and organisational skills.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, inspiring others and delivering objectives.
- Passion for corporate social and environmental responsibility.
- Experience delivering social value in the built environment and coordinating stakeholders.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Experience with public sector procurement, tools, and social value measurement and reporting frameworks (e.g. Social Value Portal, National TOMS or similar).
- Knowledge of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).
- Ongoing professional development encouraged.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in Social Policy, Sustainability, or related field.
