Job Description

  • Summary
  • The Youth Justice Quality Assurance (QA) Leader is a pivotal role within a local authority, responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight in quality assurance, practice development, and performance management within the Youth Justice Service.

This position ensures that all youth justice interventions, assessments, reports, and statutory functions are executed to the highest professional standards, in compliance with National Standards for Youth Justice, and aim to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, families, and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the quality assurance framework across the Youth Justice Service.
  • Conduct regular case audits, thematic reviews, and compliance checks against National Standards.
  • Quality assure and sign off assessments, court reports, pre-sentence reports, and intervention plans.
  • Monitor service performance against statutory and local targets and provide management reports.
  • Analyse performance data and identify areas for improvement and service development.

Requirements

Essential Experience Required

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working directly with children, young people, and families within a Youth Justice setting.
  • Significant experience in quality assurance, auditing, and performance management.
  • Experience in managing complex risk, safeguarding, vulnerability, and public protection issues.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Degree-level professional qualification in Social Work, Probation Studies, Youth Work, or another relevant field.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
