Job Purpose

To deliver a high-quality responsive repairs and maintenance service across Northamptonshire Partnership Homes' housing stock, carrying out plumbing repairs and a range of multi-trade works within occupied residential properties.

The postholder will be responsible for completing repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard of workmanship, while providing excellent customer service and contributing to the effective maintenance of residents' homes. The role requires a flexible, multi-skilled approach and the ability to work independently using mobile technology and scheduling systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out plumbing repairs, maintenance and installations within occupied residential properties.
  • Diagnose faults and undertake effective first-time repairs wherever possible.
  • Deliver a wide range of multi-trade repairs including basic carpentry, tiling, patch plastering and other associated maintenance works.
  • Complete responsive and planned maintenance works in line with service standards and timescales.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional approach when working within residents' homes.
  • Accurately record completed work, materials used and follow-on works through PDA and mobile working technology.
  • Liaise with tenants, supervisors and scheduling teams to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
  • Identify and report any additional repairs, safeguarding concerns or property issues discovered during visits.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Ensure materials and stock are used efficiently and appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to support service delivery and performance targets.
  • Contribute to achieving repairs performance indicators and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all organisational procedures and policies.


Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience working as a Plumber within domestic repairs, maintenance or housing environments.
  • Experience carrying out plumbing maintenance and repair works in occupied properties.
  • Multi-skilled experience across additional trades such as:
    • Carpentry
    • Tiling
    • Patch plastering
    • General property repairs
  • Experience working within Social Housing, Local Authority or Housing Association properties.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair solutions.
  • Experience using mobile working technology, PDA devices or electronic job management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements within property maintenance.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working within responsive repairs services.
  • Additional trade qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Social Housing repairs performance standards.
  • Experience working within occupied tenanted properties.


Additional Information

  • Location: Westbridge Depot, 9-13 St James Mill Road, Northampton, NN5 5JW
  • Hours Per Week: 37.5 Hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, 30-minute break)
  • Payment Frequency: Bi-Weekly Payments
  • DBS Requirement: Basic DBS Required
