Summary

The Transport Monitoring Officer is a critical role within a local authority, responsible for providing technical and operational support to the Transport service. This position ensures the effective monitoring, management, and continuous improvement of transport systems and performance. The role involves collecting, analysing, and reporting data to aid strategic decision-making, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and developing systems to enhance efficiency across transport operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and operational support to the Transport service in line with agreed work programs.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret statistical and performance data to support service improvements.
  • Produce accurate reports, operational schedules, and management information for senior staff.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems for monitoring driver hours, fuel card usage, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the planning and coordination of inspection schedules, including driving license checks, MOTs, and other statutory compliance activities.
  • Identify and implement improvements to management control systems, including MOT reconciliation and inspection processes.

Experience

  • Experience working with data collection, analysis, and reporting in an operational environment.
  • Experience supporting systems or performance monitoring functions.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams or departments.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • Good organizational and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including data management and reporting tools.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • The interview will take place at Hardshaw Brook Depot, Parr Street, St Helens, WA9 1JR.
  • The interview will be approximately half an hour in duration and will consist of the candidate being asked a set of questions based on the job description.
  • We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
