Summary

The HR Advisor (Sickness Absence Project) is a pivotal position within the Council, reporting directly to the HR Operations Manager. This role is crucial for the successful implementation and integration of the Council's new Sickness Absence Policy and its associated improvement initiatives. The advisor will be instrumental in driving the policy's adoption and ensuring it becomes a fundamental part of the organizational culture.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the rollout and integration of the Council's updated Sickness Absence Policy and procedures.
  • Provide training, coaching, and advice to managers, HR team members, and stakeholders on effective absence management strategies.
  • Organize and conduct sickness absence clinics and workshops to enhance managerial capabilities.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
  • Assist in communication and engagement efforts aimed at fostering a positive cultural transformation.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of HR policies and guidance related to absence management.

Requirements:

Essential Experience

  • Extensive experience in delivering HR advice and guidance on employee relations issues.
  • Proven track record in managing both short-term and long-term sickness absence cases.
  • Experience in supporting managers through complex attendance and capability processes.
  • Familiarity with collaborating with Occupational Health, Health & Safety teams, and Trade Union representatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 (Intermediate) qualification or higher, or equivalent substantial HR experience.
