Slough Borough Council is in search of a skilled Project Support Officer to aid in the execution of a significant SEND Transformation Programme. This role is pivotal in orchestrating, overseeing, and assisting various enhancement initiatives aimed at achieving lasting improvements for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. The ideal candidate will possess robust project and programme support expertise, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple workstreams while ensuring strong governance, documentation, and reporting practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive support for projects and programmes within the SEND Transformation Programme.
  • Keep project documentation, plans, trackers, and action logs current and accurate.
  • Monitor and track actions, milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Organize project meetings, workshops, stakeholder events, and programme activities.
  • Prepare project updates, briefing papers, presentations, and progress reports.
  • Accurately document meeting minutes and ensure follow-up on actions.
  • Maintain governance records and assist in preparing programme board papers and meeting documentation.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among various teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and uphold efficient project systems, processes, trackers, and controls.
  • Appropriately escalate issues and risks while aiding in resolution efforts.
  • Independently manage competing priorities to meet programme deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in supporting complex projects, programmes, or transformation initiatives.
  • Proficiency in maintaining project documentation, trackers, and reporting frameworks.
  • Experience in monitoring project actions, risks, issues, and deliverables.
  • Skilled in organizing meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Strong experience in minute-taking and action-tracking.
  • Experience in supporting governance and reporting processes.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills.
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Experience in a project office, programme office, or transformation environment.

IT Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in managing project trackers, reports, and data.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working within SEND Services, Children's Services, Education, Local Government, Health Services, or Public Sector Transformation Programmes.
  • Understanding of SEND legislation, services, or improvement programmes.
  • Experience in supporting Programme Boards or Transformation Teams.
