6-Month Contract Role with a Local Authority
Summary
- The role is responsible for developing and implementing transport strategies, managing major and minor highway works, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the transport network. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Councilâ s Local Transport Plan and driving improvements in road safety, public transport, and active travel.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of transport strategies, including the Local Transport Plan and supplementary strategies such as Active Travel, Public Transport, and Road Safety.
- Translate corporate priorities into effective service plans and operational delivery.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement to enhance transport services and infrastructure.
- Manage the delivery of major and minor transport and highways infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
- Oversee procurement, contract management, and delivery of highways works.
Requirements:
Essential Experience Required
- Proven experience in transport planning, highways, or infrastructure delivery within a public sector or local government environment.
- Strong experience managing major projects and complex programmes.
- Experience in budget management and delivering value for money.
- Experience working with stakeholders, including government bodies, contractors, and transport operators.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, or related discipline).
- Professional membership (e.g., CIHT, ICE, TPS) is desirable.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.

- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Location: 25 Windsor Road, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 2EJ, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.
- Schedule: Bi-weekly.
