Contract: 3 Month Contract

Working Pattern: Fully Remote / Home Working (Optional Ad-Hoc Attendance at Shrewsbury Office)

Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Health Adviser to enhance our Occupational Health services for Council employees, Schools, Academies, and external clients. This role is primarily remote, offering flexibility while delivering a full range of services, including management referrals, case management, health surveillance, wellbeing support, and fitness for work assessments. Candidates with expertise in mental health and workplace wellbeing are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Health advisory service.
  • Manage management referrals and provide timely, evidence-based advice.
  • Conduct occupational health assessments and fitness for work evaluations.
  • Advise managers on employee health, wellbeing, attendance, and workplace adjustments.
  • Support the management of complex and long-term sickness absence cases.
  • Undertake health surveillance programmes in line with statutory requirements.
  • Provide occupational health input on mental health and wellbeing cases.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and confidential case notes.
  • Support the development of Occupational Health policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Contribute to clinical audits and continuous service improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and Occupational Health best practice.
  • Collaborate with HR, managers, and external organisations to support employee wellbeing and attendance.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Registered Adult Nurse (NMC Registered).
  • Significant Occupational Health knowledge and experience.
  • Experience managing Occupational Health referrals and casework.
  • Knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience providing fitness for work advice and workplace adjustment recommendations.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Experience delivering a high-quality customer-focused service.
  • Experience working within Local Government, Education, or Public Sector environments.
  • Experience managing complex mental health cases.
  • Mental Health qualification, training, or significant practical experience.
