To provide high-quality Educational Psychology services through the completion of statutory assessments, psychological advice and tribunal work for children and young people across Central Bedfordshire. The postholder will undertake in-person assessments, observations and direct work to support the identification of educational needs and contribute to positive outcomes for children, families and educational settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete statutory Educational Psychology assessments within agreed timescales.
  • Undertake psychological assessments, observations and direct work with children and young people in educational settings.
  • Prepare high-quality written psychological advice and professional reports to support Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
  • Contribute to tribunal work and provide professional evidence where required.
  • Liaise effectively with schools, parents, carers and multi-agency professionals.
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to support children and young people with additional educational needs.
  • Attend meetings relating to statutory assessment processes, either in person or online where agreed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Ensure all assessments and reports are completed within the required four-week timeframe.
  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified Educational Psychologist with registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience completing statutory Educational Psychology assessments and reports.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation, Education Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA) and tribunal processes.
  • Ability to undertake in-person observations and direct assessment work.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience working collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency professionals.

Additional Information

  • Pay: Rates per assessment starting from £1,100 (£550 per day), subject to negotiation.
  • Location: Central Bedfordshire and occasional out-of-authority assessments.
  • Hours: Flexible / As Agreed.
  • Working Pattern: In-person assessments required; meetings may be conducted online by agreement.
  • Contract Type: Associate / Locum.
  • Completion Timescale: Assessments must be completed within 4 weeks of allocation.
