- We are seeking a dedicated
Revenues Assistant to become part of our dynamic Revenues & Benefits team.
This position involves supporting the administration of Council Tax and Business Rates services.
The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in administration, customer service, data processing, and IT.
You should be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while upholding high standards of customer care and data confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Execute tasks related to the administration of Council Tax and Business Rates.
- Manage Direct Debits by setting up, amending, cancelling, and monitoring them in line with BACS procedures.
- Update and maintain customer records using the Revenues systems.
- Allocate and reconcile payments accurately to the appropriate accounts and financial years.
- Handle incoming documents by scanning, indexing, and managing them through electronic document management systems.
- Address customer inquiries via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Generate and manipulate reports using databases and spreadsheet applications.
- Assist in testing system updates and maintain comprehensive system documentation.
- Oversee system outputs and support printing and distribution processes.
- Compile statistical and performance data for management reporting.
- Process purchase orders and invoices related to the service.
- Collaborate with software suppliers, IT teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve system issues.
Requirements
Requirements
- Experience in a busy office or administrative setting.
- Proficient IT skills and confidence in using computerised systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with databases and electronic records.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality principles.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Capability to manage and manipulate data effectively.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Experience in a Revenues & Benefits environment.
- Familiarity with Council Tax and Business Rates processes.
- Experience in processing Direct Debits and BACS transactions.
- Ability to produce reports from business systems and databases.
- NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent.
