- Job Purpose
To support Coventry City Councilâ s food waste collection service by safely and efficiently collecting food waste bins from residential properties across Coventry.
Working as part of a collection crew, you will help deliver a reliable, professional and customer-focused environmental service while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect food waste bins from residential properties across Coventry.
- Work as part of a team to complete daily collection routes safely and efficiently.
- Undertake manual handling and other physically demanding duties associated with refuse collection.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, policies and operational instructions.
- Provide a professional and courteous service when interacting with residents.
- Report missed collections, access issues, damaged bins or other operational concerns.
- Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment.
- Work flexibly according to service requirements and varying shift patterns.
- Support colleagues and contribute positively to the overall performance of the collection service.
Requirements
Essential
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling duties.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good awareness of health and safety practices.
- Willingness to work varying shift patterns and occasional Saturdays when required.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned collection routes efficiently.
Desirable
- Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, environmental services, refuse collection, labouring or other manual outdoor roles.
- Previous experience working in a customer-facing environment.

Whitley Depot, Coventry, CV3 4AR
Hours per week
37 hours per week.
Monday to
Thursday: 7.5 hours per day; Friday: 7 hours per day.
Occasional Saturdays may be required and are paid at time and a half.
Shift patterns vary according to service requirements, with start times from 6:00am and finish times up to 4:45pm.
