This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority, aimed at supporting efficient waste collection services. The role involves safely operating HGV vehicles and assisting with loading duties to ensure timely and compliant refuse collection. It is crucial to maintain high standards of health, safety, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Class 2 HGV vehicles for the collection of refuse and recycling materials.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Use tachograph cards correctly and comply with driving hours and transport regulations.
  • Collaborate with loaders to collect waste efficiently and safely along designated routes.
  • Load and handle waste and recycling materials in accordance with council procedures.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including the correct use of PPE.
  • Attend and complete mandatory inductions and training sessions.

Essential Experience Required

  • Previous experience as an HGV Driver/Loader, ideally within refuse collection services (desirable).
  • Experience operating Class 2 (Category C) vehicles.
  • Experience working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV driving licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC qualification (DQC card).
  • Valid digital tachograph card.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • A driver/loader induction will be held at our Bromsgrove Depot on Thursday, 28th May from 09:00. Attendance is mandatory with a Hi-Viz vest and safety footwear as a minimum level of PPE.
  • The work schedule is bi-weekly.
