We are seeking a skilled Carpenter / Multi-Trade Operative to join our dynamic Property Services team. This role is crucial in maintaining and repairing council housing properties across Redditch and Bromsgrove. The successful candidate will focus on 1st and 2nd fix carpentry repairs and perform general multi-trade maintenance tasks in both occupied and vacant properties. This position requires diagnosing repairs, executing high-quality work, and providing a responsive service to tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 1st and 2nd fix carpentry repairs on council properties.
- Execute responsive repairs and maintenance in occupied and void homes.
- Diagnose faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Conduct general multi-trade repairs as needed.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Communicate effectively with tenants and keep them informed throughout the repair process.
- Maintain vehicle stock levels and ensure materials are accounted for.
- Collaborate with the Senior Tradesperson and the wider repairs team.
- Support apprentices and share trade knowledge when required.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Carpentry or a building-related trade.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within a recognized trade.
- Strong experience in 1st and 2nd fix carpentry.
- Experience in maintenance and repair work in domestic properties.
- Ability to diagnose repairs and complete work independently.
- Experience in undertaking multi-trade repairs.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
Desirable
- Experience in Social Housing, Housing Association, or Local Authority.
- Experience with responsive repairs and void properties.
- Experience in supporting apprentices or trainees.
