Summary

  • The Recycling Officer is integral to the successful delivery of the Food Waste Collection Project, a high-profile and time-sensitive service. This role is pivotal in engaging with residents, promoting behavior change, increasing participation in recycling initiatives, and supporting broader environmental and Council objectives. Primarily field-based, the position also involves administrative and project support responsibilities, acting as the public face of the service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community engagement efforts across street scene and waste services.
  • Engage with residents through door knocking, public events, outreach activities, school assemblies, and community sessions.
  • Promote food waste recycling, environmental initiatives, and sustainable behaviors.
  • Provide clear guidance to residents on service operations and their environmental impact.
  • Manage and respond to service queries, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Organize and support events, ensuring resources, scheduling, and compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Liaise with councillors, community groups, schools, volunteers, and external partners to deliver initiatives and projects.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in planning, organizing, and problem-solving across multiple projects.
  • Proven experience working with the public, community groups, and volunteers.
  • Strong background in delivering excellent customer service and managing challenging situations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 GCSEs (Grade 9â 4 / A*â C) including Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes and compiling supporting financial information.
  • Understanding of quotation processes for works and services.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Driving license required.
  • Interviews to take place face-to-face at Prince Rock Depot, starting the week of 15/6, with an immediate start.
  • Location: Prince Rock Depot, Macadam Road, Prince Rock, Plymouth, Devon, PL4 0RZ, United Kingdom.
  • Bi-weekly work schedule.
