Job Description

3 months Contract with a Local Authority

Job Purpose

As a Paralegal - Adult Social Care, you will provide legal and administrative support to the Adult Social Care Legal Team, assisting solicitors and senior lawyers in delivering an efficient and effective legal service. You will undertake routine legal work, manage case documentation, and support the team in delivering high-quality legal services to the Council.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Provide paralegal support to the Adult Social Care Legal Team.
  • Assist senior lawyers with routine legal casework.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain legal files and case records.
  • Draft routine legal correspondence and documentation.
  • Undertake legal research and information gathering.
  • Assist with court applications and legal proceedings where required.
  • Support the administration of team procedures and legal processes.
  • Organise and coordinate legal documentation and records.
  • Attend team meetings and assist with minute-taking where required.
  • Support compliance with Lexcel procedures and quality standards.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external legal professionals, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure confidential information is handled appropriately.
  • Provide administrative support to the legal management team.
  • Carry out duties in line with Council policies and objectives.

Essential Experience Required

  • Previous Local Authority Adult Social Care Legal experience.

OR

  • Previous Local Authority Children's Social Care Legal experience.

OR

Adult Social Care experience within a private legal practice in a similar support role.

Experience working as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Support Officer.

Experience supporting legal case management processes.

Experience preparing and maintaining legal files and records.

Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.

Strong administrative and organisational skills.

Experience working within a legal environment.

Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Previous Paralegal or Legal Support experience.
  • Adult Social Care Legal experience or equivalent relevant legal experience.
  • Right to Work in the UK.

Additional Information to Note

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week.
  • Location: Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton, London.

Hybrid working arrangement

  • 1 day per month office attendance.
  • Remainder of the assignment worked remotely.
  • Attendance required to collect IT equipment.
  • Online interview.
