3 months contract with a Local Authority.
Job Purpose: To provide a high-quality maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing service for HGVs, specialist vehicles, light commercial vehicles, plant equipment, and electric or hybrid vehicles. The role ensures the Council fleet remains fully operational, compliant with DVSA regulations, operator licence requirements, health and safety standards, and internal policies.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, and testing of HGVs, light commercial vehicles, specialist fleet vehicles, and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults efficiently.
- Prepare and present HGV vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with DVSA standards.
- Complete periodic safety inspections in line with legal and operational requirements.
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and body repairs when required.
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs where necessary.
- Maintain and repair electric and hybrid vehicles.
Experience: Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles. Experience diagnosing faults on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence with Category C entitlement.
- Qualified to DVSA standards for HGV inspections and testing.
