The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, plant, and services essential for supporting business operations within a local authority. As a member of a professional procurement team, the Buyer focuses on sourcing suppliers, processing purchase orders, negotiating pricing and terms, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. This role is crucial in achieving value for money while adhering to company procurement procedures, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Process purchase requisitions and raise purchase orders accurately and promptly.
- Source materials, plant, and services in accordance with operational requirements and procurement procedures.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers to secure the best value.
- Ensure continuity of supply and proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Complete supplier onboarding activities and maintain accurate supplier records.
Requirements:
