Summary: The Gateway Assessment Worker plays a crucial role in evaluating housing support needs and risks for individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or facing financial challenges. This position involves delivering short-term housing support, facilitating access to necessary services, and supporting the Council's efforts to prevent homelessness.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of housing support needs and risks for clients.
  • Collect pertinent information from statutory bodies, voluntary groups, support providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Create and execute individualized support plans based on specific needs.
  • Offer short-term housing-related support and early intervention services.
  • Keep detailed records, case notes, and assessment documents in line with GDPR, confidentiality standards, and Council protocols.
  • Serve as a contact point within the Housing Advice and Prevention Team for inquiries related to housing support.
  • Assist individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or experiencing financial difficulties.
  • Help service users access suitable housing-related services and support.

Requirements:

Essential Experience Required:

  • Proven experience working with vulnerable individuals and families in housing, support, social care, or community environments.
  • Skilled in conducting assessments, creating support plans, and managing cases.

  • Experience providing advice, guidance, or support to individuals with complex needs.

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • GCSE level education (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
  • Relevant qualification in Housing, Social Care, Community Development, Health and Social Care, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
