We are seeking a dedicated Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our team for a 3-month contract. This role is crucial in supporting homeless households by managing temporary accommodation services. You will engage in various tasks, including housing administration, customer service, and income monitoring, ensuring that residents receive exceptional service. The position involves collaboration with landlords, accommodation providers, and internal teams to effectively manage temporary housing solutions. There are two positions available: one to cover sickness absence and another to assist with a housing benefit administration project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of temporary accommodation for homeless households.
  • Coordinate and oversee emergency and temporary accommodation placements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for residents in temporary accommodation.
  • Address customer inquiries via phone, email, face-to-face, and community settings.
  • Support housing benefit processes, including rent payments and income monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records and update housing management systems.
  • Assist with financial administration, including rent charges and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with landlords, accommodation providers, housing teams, and external agencies.
  • Generate reports, statistics, and management data.
  • Handle orders, invoices, payment requests, credits, and debits.
  • Attend meetings and take minutes as needed.
  • Deliver a professional, customer-focused service to residents and stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Housing, Homelessness, Temporary Accommodation, Housing Administration, or a similar customer-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to interact directly with the public.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using databases and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Desirable

  • Experience within a Local Authority Housing Service.
  • Knowledge of temporary accommodation or homelessness services.
  • Understanding of social housing management.
  • Experience with Housing Benefit administration.
  • Housing-related qualification.
