2 Month Contract With A local Authority

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of playground installation, inspection, maintenance, and grounds maintenance services across Monmouthshire and South Wales. The role involves carrying out a wide range of outdoor works including play area installations, hard and soft landscaping, horticultural maintenance, and general grounds works while ensuring safe working practices and supporting team members on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake playground installation activities across external and internal contract sites.
  • Carry out playground inspection, repair, and maintenance works as required.
  • Support delivery of grounds maintenance and landscaping services including horticultural, hard landscaping, and soft landscaping activities.
  • Operate safely and effectively within outdoor working environments across multiple sites.
  • Work collaboratively with Grounds Teams and other colleagues to deliver projects and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure safe systems of work, risk assessments, and site instructions are followed and communicated appropriately.
  • Assist with site preparation, installation, and maintenance of playground equipment and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to team members where required.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on all worksites.
  • Use and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality customer and contract services across Monmouthshire and South Wales.

Requirements

  • Experience in playground installation, grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar outdoor operational work.
  • Good knowledge of hard and soft landscaping and horticultural activities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues on site.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to give instruction and demonstrate tasks clearly.
  • Leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
  • Ability to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and undertake physical duties.
