The Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is seeking HCPC registered Educational Psychologists (EPs) with a minimum of three years' post-qualification experience for a 1 year contract with a local authority. This role involves conducting statutory assessments and applying psychology to enhance the inclusion and outcomes of children and young people with SEND, including their emotional wellbeing and mental health. The EPS emphasises a consultation model aligned with the SEND Code of Practice and supports leadership development at all career stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the educational psychology service according to an agreed allocation model based on the work pattern.
  • Provide psychological consultation, assessment, and interventions to improve educational outcomes for children and young people.
  • Contribute to the multi-agency graduated response for educational psychology involvement at SEN Support.
  • Offer statutory advice for Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessments in line with service standards and statutory time frames.
  • Engage in the EPS’s CPD programme, workstreams, and interest groups.
  • Support EPS-led initiatives and collaborate within a local area multi-disciplinary team.

Experience:

  • Successful experience as a qualified Educational Psychologist or a trainee EP on placement in the public sector.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Skills in consultation models, psychological assessment, and intervention planning/delivery in partnership with schools and professionals.
  • Knowledge of psychological theories and their application in education.
  • Understanding of psychological knowledge and theory in casework, change, and organizations.
  • Thorough understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices affecting children and young people with SEN/D.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with issues facing education for vulnerable pupils with SEN/D.
  • High level of self-awareness in cultural competency and understanding of culturally responsible practice.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist.
  • Honours degree in Psychology.
  • Professional EP qualification from a recognized training course.
