This is a 2-month contract position with a local authority dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centered support to young individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role is crucial in assisting these individuals to achieve their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes. It involves working in various settings, including community, center-based, and educational environments, to foster independence, enhance communication skills, build confidence, and support inclusion within local networks and services.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver customized, outcome-focused interventions for young people with learning disabilities, autism, sensory needs, and physical disabilities, aligned with EHCP outcomes.
- Assist SEND Progression Mentors in key duties, such as preparing and delivering structured educational and progression-focused activities.
- Provide positive behavioral, emotional, and practical support using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
Requirements:
Essential Experience Required:
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, or behaviors of concern.
- Experience delivering group and one-to-one sessions related to learning, social development, or independence skills.
- Experience supporting individuals in community and/or center-based disability services.
- Experience using or contributing to a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach.
- Demonstrable experience working in diverse and multicultural environments.
Essential Qualifications Required:
- Relevant Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, Education, Support Work, or equivalent experience.
Working hours: 22.5 hours per week
