Job Description

  • 5 Months Contract Role with a Local Authority
  • Summary
  • This role involves providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transport for children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The position is crucial in ensuring passengers are transported securely, on time, and with dignity, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, safeguarding, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport SEND passengers to and from schools, colleges, and care settings.
  • Operate PCV vehicles in accordance with DVSA regulations and council policies.
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and promptly report any defects.
  • Support passengers with additional needs in a calm, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with SEND Passenger Assistants where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records, including journey logs and incident reports.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and equality standards at all times.

Requirements

Essential Experience Required

  • Previous experience driving PCV vehicles is essential.
  • Experience working within SEND, education, social care, or transport services is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable passengers or individuals with additional needs is advantageous.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Full UK Driving Licence with Category D (PCV) entitlement.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Enhanced DBS (Child and/or Adult Workforce) registered on the Update Service.
  • Additional Information
  • Term-time only role.
  • Split shift working pattern (typically mornings and afternoons).
  • Opportunity for contract extension based on service needs.
  • We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
