Key Responsibilities

  • Provide SEMH and behaviour outreach support to mainstream secondary schools, promoting early intervention and inclusive practice.
  • Support schools in developing effective behaviour, SEMH, and inclusion strategies that improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.

  • Work collaboratively with education, health, social care, Educational Psychology, Early Help, Alternative Provision, and other partners to deliver coordinated support.
  • Analyse attendance, behaviour, suspension, exclusion, and service performance data to identify trends and inform targeted interventions.
  • Design and deliver training, coaching, and professional development for teachers, school leaders, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and inclusion leads.
  • Support schools to review behaviour, SEMH, and inclusion policies using evidence-informed approaches and coaching.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, facilitating school-to-school collaboration and sharing of best practice.
  • Support Fair Access Panels, Inclusion Panels, and reintegration planning where required.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans relating to SEND, inclusion, behaviour, and alternative provision.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusive practice across all aspects of service delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the SEMH Outreach Service.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Significant secondary teaching experience, with a strong understanding of SEMH, behaviour, and inclusion.
  • Qualified SENCO, senior leadership experience with responsibility for inclusion/SEMH, or equivalent experience leading whole-school inclusion and behaviour strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge of SEND legislation, exclusions, suspensions, alternative provision, safeguarding, and inclusion policy.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based SEMH interventions, relational practice, and early intervention approaches.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and those at risk of exclusion.
  • Experience designing and delivering training, coaching, and professional development for education professionals.
  • Experience analysing behaviour, attendance, and exclusion data to inform service improvement.

  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
