Job Purpose
The role is responsible for embedding consistent processes for monitoring and managing spend, improving financial performance, and ensuring value for money. The postholder will work closely with senior stakeholders to drive compliance, improve transparency, and support the Council in achieving its financial objectives.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Lead and deliver finance transformation projects across the Council
- Develop and embed robust governance processes to ensure effective expenditure control
- Provide guidance and advice to service areas on monitoring and managing budgets
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and spending controls across all directorates
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to influence and drive change
- Monitor, track, and report on council spending (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
Essential Experience Required
- Experience delivering complex projects or transformation programmes
- Strong experience working within a finance, business support, or public sector environment
- Experience developing and maintaining performance reports, dashboards, and financial data
Essential Qualifications Required
- Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience
- Professional qualification in finance, business management, or project management (desirable)
- Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience (desirable)
Additional information to note
- Working hours: 35 hours per week
- Lambeth Town Hall, 2 Brixton Hill, Brixton, Lambeth, SW2 1RW, United Kingdom
- Two days in office; three days from home or as per business need.
- We work on bi-weekly schedule.
