This 2-month temporary role in a residential service supports adults with mental and physical support needs, fostering independence and well-being.
You will work shift rota covering Monday to Sunday, assist the Manager, and deliver person-centred, outcome‑based care.
Responsibilities
- Service User Support
- Provide high-quality care and support within a residential setting.
- Promote independence and encourage service users to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Support individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and community participation.
- Assist service users in developing and maintaining life skills.
- Residential Service Delivery
- Support the Manager with day-to-day operation of the service.
- Take responsibility for designated areas of work within the service.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive living environment.
- Ensure care delivery aligns with care plans and organisational procedures.
- Outcome‑Based Care
- Support service users to achieve outcome-focused care objectives.
- Monitor and record progress against support plans.
- Encourage choice, dignity, independence, and inclusion.
- Promote positive risk‑taking where appropriate.
- Staff Support & Team Working
- Support colleagues in delivering high-quality care services.
- Collaborate with the wider care team and external professionals.
- Contribute to handovers, team meetings, and service reviews.
- Share information appropriately to maintain continuity of care.
- Safeguarding & Welfare
- Promote safeguarding and wellbeing of vulnerable adults.
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns in line with procedures.
- Ensure safety of service users, visitors, and colleagues.
- Respond appropriately to challenging situations.
- Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Complete daily notes, incident reports, and care records.
- Ensure all records meet service standards and regulatory requirements.
- Community Access & Activities
- Support individuals to access community activities and services.
- Escort service users to appointments, activities, and holidays.
- Promote social interaction and community engagement.
- Residential care setting supporting adults with mental and physical support needs.
- Shift‑based rota covering Monday to Sunday.
- Regular interaction with vulnerable adults who may occasionally present distressed, challenging, or complex behaviours.
- Team‑based environment focused on delivering person‑centred care.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or significant relevant residential care experience.
- Leadership or supervisory training.
- Safeguarding Adults training.
- Medication administration training.
- Knowledge
- Understanding of person-centred and outcome-based care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults and care standards.
- Understanding of supporting individuals with physical and mental health needs.
- Awareness of equality, diversity, dignity, and inclusion principles.
Experience
- Experience in residential care, supported living, or social care settings.
- Experience supporting adults with mental health and/or physical support needs.
- Experience implementing care plans and support plans.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Previous local authority or adult social care experience.
- Experience supporting staff or taking lead responsibility within a service.
- Experience working with complex behaviours or challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with service users.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Good observation, recording, and reporting skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Additional Information
- This is a 2-month temporary contract.
- Location: Hobbs Field, Horsham.
- 37 hours per week.
- Shift rota covering Monday to Sunday.
- Sleep-in duties required on a rota basis.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and support holidays where required.
- Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis.
- Previous residential care or adult social care experience is highly desirable.
