Summary
- The Senior Category Manager will provide expert procurement and commercial leadership across the Regeneration, Economy & Housing Development (REHD) division. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality, compliant procurement solutions, primarily within construction and regeneration. The position involves managing risk, ensuring value for money, and supporting major capital works programs. The post holder will lead end-to-end procurement activities, from strategy and planning to contract award and management, while influencing stakeholders and promoting best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex procurement projects, particularly within regeneration and construction.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, commissioning, and contract management.
- Promote best practices and the value of procurement across internal stakeholders.
- Oversee procurement and management of major works and professional services contracts.
- Lead contract negotiations, variations, and extensions in line with regulations.
- Ensure contracts deliver value for money and meet service requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance effectively.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
- Significant experience in public sector procurement at a senior level.
- Proven track record managing complex and high-value procurement projects.
- Experience within regeneration, housing, construction, or built environment sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, Design & Build).
Essential Qualifications Required
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., MCIPS) or equivalent experience.
- Extensive procurement experience in complex environments.
- Background in regeneration, housing, construction, or built environment (desirable but highly relevant).
