The Repairs Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the Council's responsive repairs service for occupied properties. This position ensures that residents live in homes that are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with all statutory and quality standards. The manager will lead a large-scale operation, delivering top-notch repairs and maintenance services across approximately 25,000 Council properties.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage the responsive repairs service for occupied Council properties.
- Supervise a multi-disciplinary repairs operation covering around 25,000 properties.
- Ensure repairs are conducted safely, efficiently, and to a high standard within agreed timelines.
- Collaborate with operational teams and Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) services for effective service delivery.
- Monitor and enhance service performance through strategic planning, performance management, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Manage and develop a substantial operational workforce, including up to 6 direct reports and about 125 indirect reports.
- Lead activities related to recruitment, retention, performance management, and workforce development.
- Establish clear objectives and performance standards for teams, ensuring accountability.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused, and high-performance culture.
- Support apprenticeships, mentoring, coaching, and career development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Significant management experience in housing, property maintenance, repairs, construction, or a similar operational environment.
- Extensive experience in managing large multi-disciplinary teams and complex service operations.
- Proven expertise in budget management, financial planning, cost control, and forecasting.
- Relevant professional experience demonstrating the required level of operational and leadership capability.
