6 Month Contract With A Local Authority
To provide comprehensive project and programme support to the Parking Design and Improvement Manager in the delivery of major capital schemes and transport-related projects from inception through to completion.
The postholder will support the management and administration of projects across a range of transport and infrastructure programmes, ensuring effective financial monitoring, procurement support, performance reporting, risk management and compliance with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
The role will play a key part in supporting successful project delivery by maintaining accurate records, monitoring project performance and assisting project managers with the coordination of resources, contractors and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level project support for major capital schemes and transport improvement projects.
- Assist in the management and administration of projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Support project managers in planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities.
- Prepare procurement documentation and assist with procurement processes in accordance with Council procedures.
- Assist with the management and coordination of consultants, contractors and design resources.
- Maintain project records, databases, documentation and filing systems.
- Develop, maintain and update project tracking tools, including Excel spreadsheets and reporting templates.
- Monitor project performance, milestones, budgets and delivery timescales.
- Produce project reports, performance information and management updates.
- Support financial monitoring, expenditure tracking and budget control activities.
- Assist with risk management processes, identifying and escalating project risks and issues where appropriate.
- Ensure project documentation complies with relevant legislation, governance requirements and Council procedures.
- Monitor contractor performance and support quality assurance activities.
- Provide administrative support for meetings, workshops and project reviews, including preparing agendas and taking minutes where required.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and external organisations to support project delivery.
- Support the preparation of reports, business cases, briefing notes and other project documentation.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of project information and performance data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support effective programme delivery.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience providing project support or project administration within a complex organisation.
- Experience maintaining project records, performance data and reporting information.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience maintaining project tracking spreadsheets.
- Experience supporting procurement, contract administration or financial monitoring activities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyse information and produce clear reports.
- Experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Experience working within Local Government, Transport, Highways, Parking or Infrastructure projects.
- Project management qualification or project support certification.
- Experience supporting capital programmes or improvement projects.
- Knowledge of procurement and contract management processes.
- Experience using project management software or reporting systems.
- Understanding of project governance, risk management and performance monitoring principles.
