3 months contract with local authority. The role involves performing highly skilled electrical tasks across various domestic properties, ensuring compliance with current QCC standards. The position requires maintaining accurate records of work and materials, providing professional electrical services, and potentially leading a team. The role is crucial for maintaining safety and quality in electrical installations and repairs, and it involves significant interaction with clients and team members.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a wide range of professional electrical skills across all contracts serviced by Building Services.
- Lead teams of up to five members when necessary and collaborate with other trades.
- Understand and execute domestic electrical repairs and installations, ensuring certification upon completion.
- Apply and complete NICEIC certification or equivalent.
- Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment, ensuring annual calibration.
- Hold certification for "Electrician" status, including City and Guilds 2391.
- Interpret engineering drawings to set out work.
- Supervise and train apprentices and trainees as assigned.
- Drive and operate vehicles as required, maintaining necessary qualifications and licenses.
- Coordinate with line managers and admin staff to discuss and agree on job orders and variations.
- Communicate with client officers and residents, providing advice and initiating variation orders when needed.
- Document all work in line with SOR for final accounting.
- Utilize new IT and handheld technology as trained.
- Use and maintain a range of tools and equipment, reporting defects.
- Ensure the security and safe storage of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain stock levels as specified by Building Services Quality Management Systems.
- Assist other tradespersons to complete work to the required standard.
- Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and Building Services RED FOLDER induction.
- Be aware of asbestos presence and follow procedures if encountered.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of others during work.
- Stay updated with building trade developments and participate in necessary training.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and assist in Borough emergencies.
- Comply with Building Services’ Quality Management system and contribute to its improvement.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings as requested.
- Perform all duties with regard to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Customer Care Policy, and organizational values.
Requirements:
- Must possess City & Guilds 236 1&2 or NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualifications.
- Knowledge of IEE regulations, 18th edition.
- Certification for City and Guilds 2391 – Inspection and Test.
- Experience in domestic electrical work and repairs.
- Ability to lead and work within a team.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining electrical testing equipment.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.
- Capability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Valid driving license and ability to operate vehicles as required.
