The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking a temporary Assistant Lawyer (Housing and Litigation) to support the Housing & Litigation Team. The role involves assisting the Senior Lawyer in licensing, prosecution, and housing-related legal matters. This is a full-time contract (35 hours/week) from 18/01/2026 to 18/06/2026, with standard office hours of 09:00β17:00.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
- Assist the Senior Lawyer in conducting legal work for housing and litigation cases.
- Manage allocated licensing and prosecution matters under supervision.
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents, notices, and correspondence.
- Provide legal advice and guidance in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support case preparation for hearings, tribunals, and court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case files and records in compliance with internal policies.
- Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholders as required.
- Conduct research on housing, licensing, and litigation law to support legal cases.
Skills/Experience:
- Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal experience in housing law, litigation, and licensing matters.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, enforcement, and prosecution processes.
- Experience in drafting legal documents, notices, and correspondence.
- Strong case management and organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal information clearly.
- Ability to work under supervision and manage allocated caseloads efficiently.
- Experience liaising with internal teams, courts, and external stakeholders.
