6 Months Contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
As an NLGV Driver Operative, you will support Civic Pride and environmental services by driving non-HGV vehicles and carrying out street cleansing, environmental maintenance, and public realm improvement activities across the borough.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Drive NLGV vehicles and operate cleansing equipment.
- Carry out street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties.
- Remove litter, fly‑tipping and environmental waste.
- Empty litter and dog waste bins.
- Operate mechanical sweepers and other cleansing equipment.
- Undertake manual labour and outdoor duties in all weather conditions.
- Complete vehicle safety inspections and daily checks.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed.
- Support environmental and public realm improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team to maintain public spaces.
Essential Experience Required
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience in manual labour, environmental services, street cleansing or grounds maintenance.
- Experience driving light commercial vehicles.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and flexible approach to work.
