We are seeking a skilled Financial Assessment & Benefits Officer to join our team on a 3-month contract. This role is crucial in supporting Adult Social Care services by conducting financial assessments and welfare benefit evaluations for residents receiving funded care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Adult Social Care finance, welfare benefits, or income assessment, and will be adept at managing assessments from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to Care Act legislation and council policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete financial assessments for residents receiving adult social care support.
  • Conduct welfare benefit checks and income maximisation reviews.
  • Engage with residents and their representatives through remote and face-to-face appointments.
  • Provide advice on welfare benefit entitlements and financial support options.
  • Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with the DWP and other agencies to verify financial information.
  • Support assessment reviews and reassessments.
  • Direct vulnerable residents to appropriate support services as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience in completing Adult Social Care financial assessments.
  • Knowledge of Care Act charging regulations and welfare benefits.
  • Experience in a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Proficiency in using Adult Social Care systems such as ContrOCC, LAS (Liquidlogic), or similar.
  • Enhanced DBS.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Local Authorities.
  • Understanding of Universal Credit and income maximisation.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Northgate, Searchlight, or CIS.
  • Qualification in Welfare Benefits.
