This is a 6-month contract position with a local authority. The role involves leading and managing the Council’s risk and insurance function to ensure effective arrangements are in place for identifying, managing, and mitigating risk. Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the Council’s risk and insurance function.
  • Ensure appropriate and effective insurance arrangements are in place across the organization.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the risk management framework.
  • Provide expert advice on risk and insurance matters to stakeholders.
  • Ensure insurance claims are processed efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee claims handling processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and cost control.
  • Monitor claims trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk exposure.

Essential Experience Required

  • Significant experience in risk management and insurance within a public sector or large organization.
  • Experience managing insurance claims and related processes.
  • Experience leading teams and delivering services in a complex environment.
  • Experience supporting or developing risk management frameworks.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Relevant professional qualification in risk management, insurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
