We are seeking an experienced Community Housing Officer to join our dynamic Housing & Communities team on a 3-month contract. This role is pivotal in managing tenancies, supporting residents, and enhancing estate environments. As a key contact for tenants, you will work collaboratively with community groups, partner agencies, and internal teams to foster safe and sustainable neighbourhoods. Your expertise in tenancy management and passion for community support will drive positive housing outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Tenancy Management: Manage a designated housing patch and serve as the primary contact for residents. Deliver proactive tenancy management services and support residents in sustaining tenancies. Conduct tenancy reviews, home visits, and respond to tenancy-related inquiries. Address tenancy breaches and enforce actions as necessary.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour & Enforcement: Investigate tenancy breaches and estate-related issues. Collaborate with ASB and Community Safety teams to manage reports of anti-social behaviour. Support legal enforcement actions and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Estate & Neighbourhood Management: Conduct regular estate inspections and identify repairs and environmental issues. Monitor communal areas and address concerns such as untidy gardens and vandalism. Work with contractors and service providers to enhance neighbourhood standards.
  • Safeguarding & Vulnerable Residents: Identify safeguarding concerns and support vulnerable households. Make referrals to support agencies and manage sensitive cases with professional curiosity.
  • Resident Engagement & Community Involvement: Build relationships with tenants and community groups. Promote tenant participation and organise community events.
  • Housing Service Improvement: Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to service improvements and neighbourhood plans. Support estate enhancement and regeneration initiatives.
  • Lettings & Void Management: Work with Lettings and Voids teams to support local lettings plans and reduce void turnaround times.
  • Performance & Administration: Maintain accurate records and produce reports as required. Manage a varied caseload using housing management systems effectively.
  • Staff Supervision: Support and supervise Community Housing Assistants and promote team performance.

Requirements

  • Essential: Enhanced DBS required. Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle with valid Business Use Insurance and MOT. Experience in Housing Officer, Tenancy Management, or related roles. Strong knowledge of tenancy management and housing legislation. Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
  • Desirable: Previous Local Authority or Social Housing experience. Experience in line management or supervisory roles. Familiarity with resident engagement and community initiatives.

Working Environment

Community-based role across Dudley with regular home visits and estate inspections. Flexible working across neighbourhood locations. Occasional attendance at community meetings outside normal office hours.
