- 3-month contract role with a local authority
- Summary
- This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority aimed at providing specialist support and intervention to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
The position is crucial in reducing risk, enhancing safety, and promoting positive outcomes for victims.
The postholder will engage in complex casework, conduct risk assessments, develop safety plans, and work collaboratively with multiple agencies to safeguard victims and support effective interventions.
This role is integral to delivering domestic abuse services, protecting vulnerable individuals, and contributing to the prevention of violence against women and girls.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of domestic abuse cases, providing tailored interventions based on assessed risk and need.
- Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments for victims and, where appropriate, perpetrators and family members.
- Develop, implement, and review individual safety and support plans.
- Undertake home visits, community visits, and outreach work to engage vulnerable and hard-to-reach individuals.
- Advocate on behalf of victims to ensure access to appropriate services, resources, and protection.
- Work closely with criminal justice agencies, social care, police, housing providers, health services, and voluntary organisations.
Requirements
Experience
- Experience working with victims of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, safeguarding, or vulnerable adults and families.
- Experience managing complex casework and undertaking risk assessments.
- Experience developing and implementing support or intervention plans.
Qualifications
- Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) qualification, Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocate qualification, Social Work qualification, or another relevant professional qualification.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
