3 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

The Deputy Childcare and Children’s Centre Services Manager will support the Executive Head of Childcare Services in the strategic and operational management of three local authority maintained nursery provisions. The role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality early education and childcare services, contributing to the development of centre policies and practices, and deputising for senior leadership as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of childcare services across three local authority maintained nursery settings.
  • Work closely with the Executive Head of Childcare Services to ensure high standards of early education and childcare provision.
  • Deputise for the Executive Head of Childcare Services when required.
  • Deputise for the Executive Head of Children’s Centre Services during periods of absence, including annual leave and sickness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the centres’ ethos, policies, and operational practices.
  • Promote and maintain high-quality early years education in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Support the leadership and development of staff to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, and local authority policies.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and external partners to support integrated service delivery.

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher or recognised education qualification relevant to early years/childcare.
  • Experience in managing or leading early years education and childcare services.
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and relevant childcare legislation.
  • Experience of leading teams and supporting staff development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to deputise effectively for senior managers and manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
