  • Summary
  • We are seeking an experienced Highways Quantity Surveyor to provide specialist commercial and contractual support across a portfolio of highway and transportation capital projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust financial management, effective cost control, and successful delivery of transport infrastructure schemes within approved budgets and programme timescales.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial and contractual aspects of highway and transportation infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections for capital projects.
  • Monitor project expenditure and provide regular financial reporting to project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Assess, validate, and certify contractor applications for payment in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Administer and manage NEC and other relevant engineering contracts.

Requirements

  • Significant experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within highways, transportation, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of managing commercial and contractual matters on publicly funded capital programmes.
  • Experience in cost planning, budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience administering NEC contracts, including assessment of compensation events and change management processes.
  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards chartered status, or equivalent professional qualification and experience.

  • Contract Type: Outside IR35
  • Duration: Until 31 July 2027 (linked to externally funded projects)
  • Rate: £60 per hour Umbrella (£43.47 PAYE equivalent)
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
  • Must be onsite in Coventry 2 days per week - Various offices across Coventry can be used i. e. Whitley Depot, Eastern Green or Friargate.
  • We work on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
