We are looking for a skilled Data Analyst to join our Housing & Homelessness Services team on a short-term contract. This role is crucial for delivering insightful reporting and performance analysis to enhance service delivery. You will be instrumental in maintaining and improving our data infrastructure, providing actionable insights to support decision-making, and driving improvements in areas such as temporary accommodation, housing options, and outreach services for rough sleepers. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric, with experience in managing reporting environments and supporting data platform migrations.
Responsibilities
- Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Create and refine Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Assist in the migration from on-premise data systems to Microsoft Fabric.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of reporting systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to reports, dashboards, and data.
- Maintain comprehensive reporting records and performance dashboards.
- Aid managers in performance monitoring and KPI development.
- Data Analysis & Insight
- Examine service performance data to identify trends.
- Deliver insights to support both operational and strategic decisions.
- Generate meaningful reports for senior management.
- Track service performance against key indicators.
- Assist in completing statutory government returns.
- Analyze rental income and housing benefit recovery performance.
- Automation & System Development
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate processes and minimize manual reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance data infrastructure.
- Develop scalable reporting solutions.
- Improve data quality and reporting efficiency across services.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with ICT & Digital Teams, Housing & Homelessness Teams, Senior Management, Corporate Insight Teams, External Partners and System Providers.
- Attend meetings to present findings and performance insights.
- Advise on improvements to reporting mechanisms and data processes.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in leading data analysis and reporting functions.
- Expertise in building automated reporting dashboards using Power BI.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets.
- Experience with Python for data analysis and automation.
- Ability to implement automation solutions.
