Job Purpose
The YJS Prevention Worker plays a crucial role in supporting children and young people at risk of offending by delivering targeted interventions and prevention programs through the Youth Justice Service. This position involves managing a caseload of young individuals, conducting assessments, and collaborating with families and partner agencies to address anti-social behavior and promote positive outcomes. The role is vital in safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children by ensuring timely and professional delivery of evidence-based interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of young people referred to the YJS Prevention Team
- Develop and deliver targeted interventions to address anti-social behavior
- Manage and coordinate a caseload, ensuring effective prioritization and safeguarding standards
- Build positive relationships with young people and their families to encourage engagement
- Provide mentoring, advice, and guidance to support behavioral change and re-engagement
- Collaborate closely with multi-agency partners, including social care, education, and health services
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and case reviews
- Prepare and deliver reports to support planning and decision-making
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on YOT systems
- Ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding duties and relevant legislation
- Promote restorative approaches and evidence-based interventions
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

Experience Required
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience supporting individuals with challenging behavior or anti-social behavior
- Experience working within a multi-agency or partnership setting
- Experience in case management or support planning
- Knowledge or experience of the youth justice system (desirable)
- Experience working in youth services, social care, or criminal justice settings (desirable)
