This temporary 3-month contract role focuses on supporting children and young people with disabilities or additional needs and their families.
The Family Help Disability Advisor will assess the wellbeing needs of families, particularly those with children with disabilities, and provide short-term interventions, practical advice, and guidance.
The role aims to empower families, build resilience, and ensure support is in place to prevent escalation to specialist services.
Responsibilities
- Family Support
- Work directly with children, young people, and families.
- Assess individual and family support needs.
- Provide practical, emotional, and wellbeing support.
- Deliver targeted short-term interventions.
- Assist families in developing skills, confidence, and resilience.

- Support children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.
- Promote inclusion, independence, and wellbeing.

- Assessment & Intervention
- Complete needs assessments and identify appropriate support pathways.
- Develop action plans with families.

- Advice, Guidance & Advocacy
- Provide information and advice regarding available services and support.
- Signpost families to relevant organisations and community services.

- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel across Cardiff and surrounding areas when required.
