- Summary
- This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, focused on administering and processing all aspects of Business Rates and BID Levy accounts.
The position ensures accurate billing, recovery, enforcement, and account maintenance.
It involves determining liability, assessing eligibility for reliefs and exemptions, and providing professional advice to customers and stakeholders.
The role supports the effective collection of local taxation revenues, aiming to maximize income and reduce fraud.
Responsibilities
- Determine the correct liable person or organization for Business Rates and BID Levy accounts, ensuring timely issuance of all relevant notices.
- Administer Business Rates and BID Levy accounts from initial billing through to recovery and enforcement stages.
- Assess, process, and verify applications for Business Rates reliefs, discounts, and exemptions in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
- Provide high-quality advice, guidance, and support to businesses, customers, agents, and external partners regarding Business Rates and BID Levy matters.
- Investigate and review reliefs, exemptions, and discounts to maximize revenue collection and minimize fraud and error.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working within a Business Rates, Revenues, Local Taxation, or Financial Services environment.
- Experience administering Business Rates accounts, including billing, recovery, and account maintenance.
- Experience assessing and processing reliefs, exemptions, discounts, and account amendments.
Essential Qualifications Required
- GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualification in Revenues, Local Government Administration, Business Administration, or Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week.
- Location: Station Road, London, Greater London, N22 7TY, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: Up to 2 days a month.
- DBS clearance required.
- We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
