Children's Services is a pivotal role within a local authority, tasked with leading and delivering a high-performing finance business partnering function across all Children's Services.
This position serves as a strategic financial adviser to senior leaders, offering financial insight, challenge, and support to facilitate informed decision-making, service transformation, and sustainable financial management.
This is a 6-month contract role, essential for driving financial strategies and ensuring fiscal responsibility within the Children's Services sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Finance Business Partnering function for all Children's Services.
- Provide strategic financial advice and support to Directors, Heads of Service, and senior stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted adviser, influencing decision-making and ensuring financial considerations are embedded within service strategies and plans.
- Support the development and delivery of medium and long-term financial strategies.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
- Significant senior-level finance management experience within a large and complex organisation.
- Extensive experience of leading finance business partnering functions and delivering high-quality financial services.
- Experience supporting Children's Services, local government services, public sector organisations, or similarly complex service environments.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Fully qualified accountant with a recognised CCAB qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to strategic finance leadership.
- Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week.
- Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: Typically 2 days in the office per week, but varies week on week.
